Impact

Impact: Primordial Earth

This digital piece shows a phase early in the history of the Earth and Moon when both were subject to frequent large impacts. The two bodies were much closer together back then than they are now. I imagine that the solar system is still in or near the star-forming nebula that created them at this time. The intense aqua colors derive from the fluorescence of oxygen under the ultraviolet influence of embedded young stars.
